ANOTHER fine performance from fast bowler Dave Haddock and a counter-attacking innings from Alex Parker secured a crucial victory for Old Vigornians.

The Worcester side beat Lye by 32 runs at New Road to go ahead of their Black Country rivals in Worcestershire Cricket League Division Two.

After another week of heavy rain conditions were ideal for the seamers on a green wicket and OVs struggled to 131 all out.

They had Parker to thank for a blistering 29 including three sixes and two fours after they struggled to 100-8.

Ahsan Fiaz, Azmat Riaz, Chris Drew and Max Richardson were the only other batsmen to reach double figures as Saeed Mahmood took 3-23 and Azhar Naseem 2-17.

Lye struggled against the seamers with Riaz, Richardson and Charlie Lamb all taking two wickets.

But Haddock took the bowling honours again, finishing with 4-34 from 10 overs as Lye were dismissed for just 99.

It leaves OVs sixth leading a group of five teams separated by just 15 points.

A devastating spell from teenager Eliot Turner and an obdurate innings by veteran Tony Meek sealed an important 63-run victory over resurgent Stourport fourths for OVs seconds in Division Three.

Meek carried his bat for 69 not out as second-placed OVs, who chose to bat first, made 212-7 in their 45 overs.

He faced 153 balls and scored five boundaries.

Richard Cook (46) and Turner (29) joined him in partnerships of 82 for the first wicket and 40 for the third respectively.

Adam Clements (16), Dan Rickman (10) and James Hayward-Meek (16) upped the tempo to secure all four batting points.

Stourport captain Rich Foley claimed 3-22 in nine overs.  Ian Delo and Alan Lockwood got the reply off to a great start with 69 for the first wicket in 18 overs.

Turner made the initial breakthroughs, including Lockwood (29), before Zain Hussain (3-18) turned the screw.

The off-spinner took the crucial wicket of Delo (68) thanks to a fine catch in the deep by Rickman.

Josh Forbes hit 24 in 21 balls to keep Stourport in with a fighting chance at 138-5 in the 33rd over.

But Turner returned to rip through the middle order and finish with 5-28 before Tim Race (1-28) and Hayward-Meek (1-21) mopped up the tail.

Stourport were dismissed for 149 in the 38th over.
