WORCESTER went through to play Avenue Coventry in the National Club Two Fours quarter-finals at Leamington.

They beat Waddesdon from Buckinghamshire in Shipston-on-Stour by nine shots 42-33 to reach the latter stages of the competition where they represent Worcestershire.

A three on the second end enabled the city to lead after five ends.

At 10 ends the difference had only increased to five shots after Worcester picked up a four but conceded a six. With both sides playing a tight game the margin remained the same at 15.

Andy Walters’ rink then bagged two threes on the following two ends to increase Worcester’s lead to nine.

On the 20th Rob Stanley’s foursome sealed victory with a six.

In their second journey to Cheltenham in seven days Worcester won by 13 shots 78-65 against Whaddon with success on three rinks.

In a tight match Worcester led by seven shots at 10 ends with a four.

By the 19th the hosts reduced the deficit to one but on the penultimate end all Worcester rinks rallied and picked up 14 shots including a five and four.

Leading the way was Ron Ling’s rink who won by 12 thanks to two fours.

Trailing for the first 12 ends Nathan Bannister’s foursome pulled away to triumph by six after finishing with a four.

After taking an early lead Arthur Jackson’s rink conceded shots but finished with a five to snatch victory by one.
