DROITWICH'S Vines Park Bowling Club players continued their pursuit of glory at the National Championships in Leamington Spa.

Rob Bourne, Martin Leedham and Rich Moule, representing Worcestershire B in the men's triples, came up against an in-form Northumberland A team in the first round and just lost out 16-11.

The pair of Leedham and Moule shone to get to the last 16 for Worcestershire B and faced a side from Essex C.

It seemed the Vines Park men had the match in the bag before their opponents came back to pick up shots from out of nowhere, edging it 15-14.

Worcestershire previously beat Lancashire A 23-17 and Warwickshire A 24-9.

Moule played well in the two-wood singles for Worcestershire A but lost to a player from Suffolk B 16-15 in the first round.

England selector and former world champion Tony Allcock took an interest in Moule's games so the club are hoping a national trial may be on the cards.
