WORCESTER fencer Abigail Watkins won a bronze medal with the Wales epee team in the School Games National Finals at Loughborough University.
The Royal Grammar School Worcester pupil has been invited to represent Great Britain in the under 20s nominated qualifiers for the European and World Cup Championships at Laupheim, Germany, next month.
Wales beat Northern Ireland to the bronze medal.
Watkins, who turns 16 tomorrow, met Alexandra Powell, who also trains with Malvern Hills Sword Fencing, in the quarter-finals and was edged out 15-14.
Powell went on to win gold for England.
