STILLWATER ace Colin Davis beat an excellent turnout of 60 anglers to win the coveted Ted Gibbs memorial match on the Stoke Prior section of the local canal.

A string of double-figure nets were recorded at the contest in memory of the former Worcester national and ex-Severn champion.

But Davis’ 23lb 2oz 0dr of bream and skimmers came out on top with all his fish falling for caster and worm offered in the deeper centre channel.

Second was Conrad Davies with a similar net of 17-5 and in third in-form Matt Hodgetts got another skimmer weight of 15-6-10 to beat Brian Buckley’s 14-5-15 and Craig Richards' 9-9-8.

Keith Hunt won the final WDUAA veterans' contest on the canal at Perdiswell with 11-8 consisting of three chub and a bream which fell for his chopped worm bait on peg 70.

Second was Richard Knowles on peg 40 with 8-6 followed by Nigel Field with 3-14.

Section winners were Rich Brewer, Gary Owen and Paul Turner.

Mick Sampson took the league title with 76 points followed by Paul Wilson on 74 and Hunt on 71.

Silver fish expert John Shelton turned his hand to carp fishing by winning the Whitehall contest at Tirley Court with a meat-fed 118-2.

Second was the consistent Carl Graham with 92-12 ahead of this year's club knockout champion Dan Sydall with 67-4.

Section victories went to Richard Oliver, Mike Hope, Len Merrell and Bill Hartland with the silver fish prize claimed by Tracey Pegram.
