CHAIRMAN Anthony Hampson vowed to take action following the “totally uncalled for” skirmish between Worcester City supporters at Shawbury United this afternoon.

As witnessed by this correspondent, a man left the public balcony at Ludlow Stadium to confront one of three City fans stood pitch side following a verbal exchange.

The man approached the supporter and grabbed him by the face before City captain Brad Birch, watching nearby having missed out through injury, and United officials stepped in.

The argument continued from a distance after the man had been ushered back towards the stand.

Hampson, who had been watching from the stand, confirmed the man who instigated the physical confrontation is known to the club and that evidence would be gathered before a decision gets made on what to do next.

“The supporter has been identified and we will be speaking to witnesses and Shawbury United officials who dealt with the incident before deciding what course of action to take,” said Hampson.

“It was totally uncalled for," he added.

There was no police involvement at the stadium.
