A LOW, clear River Avon greeted competitors on the Droitwich Spa pairs contest at Twyning where Worcester duo Jamie Smith and John Moloney recorded a comfortable victory.

The two got a four-point total ahead of John Walker and Reg Ford who tied on six with Alan Baldwin and Rich Brewer but took second on a higher weight total.

Individual honours went to Smith with a feeder-caught six bream catch of 16lb 0oz 0dr from peg 19.

Runner-up was Evesham’s Stuart Thompson with a small fish catch of 5-2 ahead of the in-form Alan Baldwin with 4-4 and Walker with 4-0.

Dave Huggins won the final Upton AA club contest on the River Severn with 36-2 of bream on feeder and red maggot from peg 22.

Richard Blight was second with a similar catch from peg four of 34-0 to beat Daiwa Gordon League star John Curtis with an all-bream 30-14 from peg 33.

The Whitehall AC contest at KC Fisheries was won by Mick Watling who had 82-14 of carp on pellet from fancied peg two.

Second came Matt Barnes with 77-0 from peg six and third was club star Dave Warren with 70-14.

Section prizes went to Darren Bryant, Ashley Jauncey and Keith Holt.

Whitehall 1212AC members and guests tackled Tirley Court for the Brian Hope memorial contest.

Carp specialist Terry King won with 134-4 of margin-caught fish ahead of Warren with 95-4 and Watling with 84-0. Rob Page and Richard Oliver won their sections and Mike Hope took the silver fish prize.

Barley Mow AC found the canal at Stoke Works in a difficult mood after big matches on the venue.

Canal expert Dave Anderson won with 124 fish on pinkie bait going 4-11-8.

Second was Colin Davis with 3-12-12 ahead of Pete Chance’s 3-10-11. Sections went to Kevin Downton and Mike Salcumbe.
