BRANSFORD seniors hit back from three matches down to beat Burghill Valley 5-3 and maintain their unbeaten home record for 2017 in friendlies.

They won 11 and drew two at home while there were three victories, two draws and eight defeats on their travels.

Against Burghill, John Phillips (19) and Andy Falconer (26) won 5&4, Graham Wilks (18) and Andrew Jarvis (23) 4&3, Phil Spencer (19) and Charlie Hawkridge (24) 4&3, Ferey Ghani (14) and Mike Weaver (20) 3&2 and Neil Holbrow (11) and Paul Edlin (24) 6&5.

Alan Wallcroft (23) and Ivor Lloyd (18) lost 3&1, Harry Godwin (20) and Roger Clark (23) one-down and Trevor Atkinson (14) and Robin Brighton (28) 2&1.

The section’s summer presentation of prizes at the Bank House Hotel followed a nine-hole Texas scramble pairs competition.

Gerry Rebbeck picked up four awards — the April and September medals, the Mike Kemp Cup with Dave Ryall and the Seniors Order of Merit Trophy.

Atkinson collected the June medal and Eclectic Trophy while Richard Steele claimed the Over 70s Challenge Cup and Stan Parnell Memorial Trophy.

Godwin had the Hatt Power Trophy for seniors summer matchplay and the BOAT Trophy with Bob McGrath.

Pete Anthony won the seniors' championship and the B and H Trophy with Graham Thomas.

Phillips collected the Handicap Memorial Trophy, Jarvis the Autumn Salver, Dave Lindsay the Rabbits Trophy, Wilks the Mayor’s Chalice, Mike Davidge the Cyril Lee Trophy, Edlin the Captain’s Charity Shield, Neil Sheldon the Norman Taylor Shield, Lee Dyment and Mike Weaver the Winter Pairs and Richard Fletcher and Dave Wild the Founders Trophy.

Medal winners were Alan Cockill for May, Bob Matthews for July and Spencer for August.

The prizes were presented by seniors captain Wallcroft who together with Sheldon finished runners-up in the morning competition with 30.7, just behind winners Davidge and Allen Rowberry on 29.7.

Third were John Knowles and June Atkinson on 31 and the next seven teams were all within a point.

A raffle for the captain’s chosen charity Worcestershire Guide Dogs raised just over £120 which was was further boosted by cash from competition entry fees after the prize money was paid out.

Bransford's seniors summer league was completed and Division One winner Chaz Ivill finished with 115 (31, 46 and 38) to pip June Atkinson (39, 35 and 40) whose husband Trevor was third with 109 (34, 39, 36).

Also on 109 was Wilks (39, 32, 38) while Spencer (38, 35, 34) and Roy Burston (41, 32, 34) got 107 each, Cockill 106 (37, 37, 32), Steele 103 (33, 37, 33), Ghani 102 (35, 35, 32) and Rebbeck 101 (36, 35, 30).

Geoff Aston won Division Two with 117 (43, 38, 36) from Barry Benge on 114 (40, 34, 40).

Brian Lawrence scored 109 (36, 35 and 38), Knowles (38, 37, 33), Rob Wetton (35, 35, 38), Peter Harrison (36, 37, 35) and Tony Bowman (44, 31, 33) 108, Phillips (38, 32, 35) 105 and Brian Taylor (31, 41, 32) 104 .

Dick Bettsworth topped Division Three on 110 (36, 33, 41) with Adrian Wood on 107 (37, 35, 35), Malcolm Bradley on 104 (39, 33, 32) and Rob Mathews on 102 (33, 32, 37).

The seniors' October medal saw Cockill win Division One with 91 gross 19 handicap 72 nett from June Atkinson 94-21=73, Ghani 87-14=73, Keith Edgell 92-19=73, Ray Broadhead 94-17=77 and Benge 96-19=77.

Godwin claimed Division Two with 94-20=74 from Edlin 99-24=75, Sheldon 97-21=76, Bill Bowen 98-20=78, Harrison 102-24=78 and Taylor 102-23=79.

Gerry McCurry topped Division Three with 98-28=70 from Pauline Wetton 101-30=71, Roy Mayo 102-25=77, Chris Hall 105-28=77, Wood 107-25=82 and Roger Steade 110-28=82.

Bransford ladies won 4-0 at home to Leominster.

Abi Nixon and Diane Leadbetter won 7&6 followed by 3&2 successes for Jane Smallwood and Nicola Tanfield, Pauline Wetton and Pamela McBride and Annie Hayden and Mary Starkey.

Maks Wyard (5 handicap) won the Richard Moore Cup with 41 points from Dan Endacott (13) on 40, Ian Pritchard (11), Jenny Bennett and Tony Key on 39 and Karl Barnett, Ollie Walker, Steve Slack and David Hopkins on 38.
