WORCESTER crashed 6-1 at Barton in the Warwick Printing Midlands Men's Hockey League Premier Division.

They are still looking for their first league win of the campaign ahead of Saturday's visit to leaders Harborne after three defeats and a draw.

Worcester started brightly at Barton, looking more relaxed in possession with Chris Miles winning plenty of ball in midfield.

From one attack, a mix-up in the Barton defence left Joe Schubert unmarked at the top of the D and he neatly slipped the ball under the diving keeper.

Worcester were 1-0 up for the fourth consecutive week and there were then chances at both ends.

But the visitors missed theirs and Barton did not to lead 3-1 at half-time.

Worcester struggled and tired in the second period, giving the ball away too easily.  After good performances from keeper Tom Dalton and Steve Miles in defence, the 6-1 defeat was harsh on Worcester.

The seconds beat Stratford 3-1 in Midlands Division One while the thirds thrashed Burton 5-0.

Worcester fourths drew 1-1 with Edgbaston fifths in the West Midlands Premier Division but the fifths were edged 1-0 at Edgbaston fourths.

There were 4-0 wins in South West Division One for Worcester sixths and sevenths over Warwick fifths and Hampton-in-Arden fourths respectively.

The eighths fell 8-1 at their Edgbaston counterparts.

Worcester women lost 2-1 at home to Olton and West Warwicks seconds in Midlands Division Two.

Worcester Pippins suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat against Worcester Potters but enjoyed a promising opening 20 minutes when Emma Baker put them ahead.

Shortly before the break Will Redway-Thomas levelled and Ava Thornley gave Potters the lead.

The second half was a one-sided affair with Potters dominating midfield.

A second for Thornley was shortly followed by goals from brothers Zac and Finley Goodman before Jack Barnes added another.

Great Britain and England women's ace Zoe Shipperley is due to visit Worcester's junior academy on Sunday.

She will take part in two back-to-back sessions for the under 10s and under 16s, helping to coach and provide tips to aspiring players.

The academy train at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex, Spetchley Road, with the under 10s from 9.15am until 10.45am and the under 16s from 10.30am until noon.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith's double helped Pershore men to a 2-1 win over Kings Heath Pickwick in West Midlands Division One.

Droitwich Spa lost 3-2 at Newtown with Matt Gurr and Sam Radford on target.
