WORCESTER City have sealed the permanent transfer of midfielder George Forsyth following his exit from Gloucester City.

As reported by your Worcester News earlier today, the club acted quickly to snap up the 20-year-old after the National South outfit terminated his contract by mutual consent.

The ex-Kidderminster Harriers academy captain made six appearances for Worcester and covered several positions during a month-long loan spell that expired at the back end of September.

Forsyth’s ineligibility for the FA Vase proved a sticking point when it came to considering a renewal but subject to the completion of the relevant paperwork, he could feature in Saturday’s first-round tie with Sherwood Colliery (3pm) after tearing up his Tigers deal.

“He came in on loan having not played for a while and really helped us out,” said Snape.

“When he stepped in we were struggling without the likes of Nathan Hayward, Brad Birch, Shabir Khan and Lee Hughes. It was a tough baptism for him at Coventry United but he got better game by game.

“His versatility and ability to play anywhere across the back or in the middle gives us good competition for places and options to shuffle things around if we want to.

“The big difference now is George being able to play in the Vase. He will be a welcome addition.”
