PROP Gareth Milasinovich says Worcester Warriors’ forwards are determined to turn their driving maul into a “weapon” this season.

Warriors’ pack laid the platform for their 30-20 victory over Brive last Saturday as three catch and drives resulted in hooker Joe Taufete’e bagging a hat-trick.

But Milasinovich insisted it was important they backed that up with another powerful display in the European Challenge Cup.

Worcester face Connacht at the Sportsground on Saturday (3pm) and with wind and rain forecast the 24-year-old expects a battle up front.

“There is a very famous Youtube video of the ball coming back over the posts, so we know how tough the conditions can be over there,” he said.

“But hopefully we can manage that as best we can.

“We know the forwards are going to play a massive role.

“I think we did fantastically well against Brive at maul time, but now we need to back that up and make that drive a weapon for us. If we can do that, it can be a such a threat as the opposition will focus so much on it we can then produce great things off the back of it and it can be a really good platform.”

Milasinovich, who starts at tighthead, added: “The boys have been waiting quite a while to get that first win under their belts.

“There has been more energy and a buzz at the club, so hopefully we can build on that.”
