WORCESTER commercial fishery ace Terry King and his team Top Twos once again won the biggest match on the local circuit.

King took both team and individual honours on the Whitehall invitation contest held across four pools at Broadheath Fisheries.

Eighteen teams of four competed but King, Bob Patrick, Justin King and Trevor Smith clinched the title for the second consecutive year with a 64-point total over nearest rivals Storey’s on 62.

Individually, King also made it two on the trot when he repeated last year's victory with 79lb 14oz 0dr of pellet-caught carp from Ash pool peg 13.

Runner-up was Harry Lewis (Evesham Youth) with the best catch from the Sycamore pool when he weighed in 47-4 of carp and bream from peg seven.

The Old pool winner was Mal Moore (Storeys) 39-1 and the Willow pool victor was Mal Storey (Storeys) 28-13.

The first round of the WDUAA winter pairs league saw in-form Jamie Smith win when he put 6-13-7 of caster-caught chub onto the scales from peg 68 at Perdiswell.

Despite losing eight good specimens, Anthony Taylor managed to hang on to second when his two-chub catch from peg 44 went 4-5-5.

He narrowly beat Keith Hunt who took 4-5 of small fish from the end peg 76.

The top pair on the day were Taylor and Rich Brewer with four points followed by Smith and John Moloney on five.

The second round is on November 5.

Veteran Worcester national anglers took the top two places on the Barley Mow AC contest on the sports centre length of the Droitwich canal.

Tony Hamilton got the verdict thanks to a brace of good perch which along with a few roach went 5-8-5 for a comfortable win.

Brian Wood came second with a pinkie-taken small fish catch going 3-1 while in third was Dave Anderson’s 2-9-4.

Alf Hand narrowly won the Upton AA float-only contest on the River Severn when he took a mainly all-skimmer net of 12-2 on waggler and maggot from peg 25.

Second place went to Colin Harvey whose 11-14 net also consisted of skimmers and came to bolo tactics on peg 20.

In third was Richard Blight’s peg 35 bolo-taken roach net of 7-3.
