VETERAN Worcester matchman Bill Biddle individually won the WDUAA winter pairs series second round.

He also took the team prize on the day along with Mike Higginbotham.

From permanent peg 118 in the Arboretum, Biddle took three bream early on before adding a few perch to his net to end with a winning total of 7lb 12oz 7dr.

The runner-up prize went to association president Colin Pettifer who found one big chub and small perch on his peg 191 to weigh in 4-0-5.

Mick Samson netted a chub from peg 120 going 3-9-6.

The top pair on the day were Higginbotham and Biddle with a maximum two-point total.

Les Sanders and Keith Hunt along with Samson and Nick Vaughan were joint second on eight.

The league after two rounds puts Samson and Vaughan in front on 15.

The next round is on November 19.

n Tony Hamilton continued a good season when he won the Droitwich Spa AC match on the canal at Porters Mill.

He claimed a bread punch-taken roach and rudd weight of 6-5-8 from peg two in the first pound.

Second came Steve Robson with 4-9 from peg nine in the same pound while third was Colin Davis on peg one next to the winner with 3-5-8.

The match was also a pairs competition with winners Davis and Martin Farriday scoring 17 points.

n Whitehall AC held their big money King Of Sections competition on the Island pool at Manor Farm Leisure.

Mike Spragg narrowly took the verdict with a winning all-carp net of 59-9 as all his fish fell to bomb and pellet across to the island on peg six.

Consistent Carl Graham was second on peg 32 with 50-0, beating Dave Warren's pole and pellet catch of 27-10.

Section winners were Vic Watling and Michael Bryant.

n An Upton float-only knock-up on the River Severn saw 80s legend John Halfpenny return to form.

He took a bolo-caught net of roach going 15-1 from peg 25 on the Ham.

The runner-up was Alf Hand with 13-5 of roach caught from peg 20 on the waggler.

Third was Alan Baldwin with 11-15 and fourth was Martin Hunt's stick float-taken catch of 9-2.
