HEREFORD made it through Tuesday’s FA Trophy replay despite kicking off more than half an hour late due to their coach breaking down.

The Bulls saw off Potters Bar Town 2-1 courtesy of Lance Smith’s 13th-minute close-range finish and an own goal 20 minutes from time. Rokas Janilionis pulled a goal back in the 85th minute for the hosts but Hereford stood firm to seal a trip to National South side Oxford City on Saturday, November 25.

“There was a lot of confusion when we broke down because we didn’t know if we would get a spare bus,” said Hereford manager Peter Beadle.

“There were long delays but the players just got on with it, they never moaned. Once they got to the ground they got their gear on and prepared as best as they could.”

Controversy surrounded a match that did not happen at Stourport Swifts who seem set to progress in the Worcester Infirmary Cup without kicking a ball.

Swifts published the cancellation of Tuesday’s tie via their Twitter feed on the morning of the match, claiming they had gone through due to opponents Studley being “unable to raise a team”.

Studley hit back by insisting they had suffered with illness and injury but had tried to get the fixture back on, a request they claimed Stourport “was not able to accommodate”.
