MANAGER John Eustace has tasked his Kidderminster Harriers with maturing into winners – a challenge midfielder Declan Weeks is happy to accept.

Weeks got handed the chance to start last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Darlington, a match that saw Harriers blow a pair of two-goal leads to drop precious National North points.

Eustace pulled no punches in the aftermath, saying: “Age does not make a difference now. These boys have got to realise it is their livelihoods and it means everything. We need to start turning these draws into wins.”

And former Wolves youngster Weeks had no qualms about repeating those sentiments ahead of tomorrow’s trip to York City (3pm).

“It is a plus that we’re making chances but for me, we have got to start winning games,” said Weeks. “It has happened too many times now and we have to be better in both boxes.

“We have to see out games. We’re creating more than enough chances but we have to start putting them away. It’s alright saying it but we have to start doing it.

“It’s November now and we have to start climbing the table.”

On his own chances of featuring, Weeks added: “I have had to be be patient because the midfielders have been doing well but I felt I did well coming off the bench and earned my start. Hopefully I’ve done enough to keep my place.

“There’s high competition for places and that’s what I thrive off. I know I am not guaranteed to start but I have to work hard in training every day and make sure I am starting.”

Flexible midfielder Yan Klukowski, signed on a month-long loan from Torquay United yesterday, could feature at Bootham Crescent. Klukowski scored 48 goals and played more than 150 games in non-league’s top flight at Forest Green Rovers.
