KIDDERMINSTER Harriers climbed into the National League North play-off places with a comfortable 3-0 win over Gainsborough Trinity.

Joe Ironside’s 12th of the season helped the team on their way before Fraser Horsfall and Declan Weeks netted to clinch back-to-back successes on home soil.

Going into the game, Harriers re-introduced James Pearson to the starting line-up after illness ruled him out of their previous match against Boston.

That was at the expense of Tyrone Williams who dropped back to the bench.

Alongside him were the returning Joel Taylor and Yan Klukowski.

Harriers soon established themselves in what was a quiet start to the match.

The early chances of the day game came from the ever-creative Elton Ngwatala as his shot from the edge of the area clipped the post and bounced away.

Jimmy O’Connor is still searching for his first goal in Harriers colours as he was denied again.

He rose to meet a delivery into the area with a header that was well saved by Trinity goalkeeper Henrich Ravas. Ironside and Andre Brown also went close before the break but it was the latter who continued his excellent form with the day’s opening goal.

Just 90 seconds after the interval he eased off his man and drive the ball home.

Horsfall opened his account for the club just past the hour with a close-range finish as the goalkeeper spilled Ironside’s header.

The home side refused to take their foot off the gas as Emmanuel Sonupe then showed real pace to go close on a couple of occasions.

Another maiden goal followed. This time for Weeks as his 82nd minute finish had Ravas well beaten as it found the bottom corner.

The victory moves the Reds up into the play-offs for the first time this season.
