EVESHAM United have snapped up a striker with a little help from former player Nick Stanley.

The Robins have swooped for highly-rated hitman Aysa Corrick who has 50 goals to show for his 63 appearances for runaway Hellenic League leaders Highworth Town since the start of last season.

“He’s a proven goal scorer at that level but had a bit of a hiccup at Highworth,” said United manager Paul Collicutt.

“At 23, he has a lot of attributes and has scored 12 goals this season despite missing a chunk of games through injury.

“He trained with us and we could see straight away what a bubbly character he has. He was really keen to sign and I have heard good things about him.

“We have been keeping tabs on him for a while and one of our former players Nick Stanley tipped me the wink about his availability.”

It brings to an end Collicutt’s lengthy search for a goal scorer but the boost has been tempered by the exit of winger Bradley Gray.

Collicutt confirmed Gray’s personal circumstances had changed with a switch to Southern League West rivals Swindon Supermarine now likely.

“He lives in Swindon and it was his intention to move to Cheltenham but that has changed now,” said Collicutt. “We have had an approach from Swindon Supermarine where Bradley has played twice before so it looks likely he will go there.

“He has thrown himself into his work recently and picked up more business so has struggled to get away for the kind of hours that enable him to commit to us.”

Evesham travel to Cinderford Town on Saturday (3pm) on the back of a blank weekend after snow caused the postponement of Sunday’s clash with Supermarine.

“When you don’t have a game it gives you the chance to get certain players right again. Carl Brown, Adam Mann and Lewis Binns have been injured and should all benefit,” added Collicutt.
