WORCESTERSHIRE chief executive Mark Newton has confirmed the controversial re-arranged LV County Championship Division One match with Kent will not be replayed after all.

After lengthy deliberations to decide the fairest way to allocate points for the abandoned match, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) opted to award both clubs four points.

The ECB had considered awarding Kent nine points - their average return this season - but the decision needed the backing of all nine Division One counties, which wasn't forthcoming.

The game was originally planned to start at New Road on Sunday, July 8 - just 10 days after the ground was hit by flooding - but it was not possible for a ball to be bowled.

The ECB originally ruled that the match would be re-scheduled for July 30, 31, August 1 and 3 with a floodlit Pro40 game at Essex in between on August 2.

However, it was deemed that rescheduling the game could give an inadvertent advantage to Worcestershire and the decision was made to abandon the fixture.

The County have also announced the venues for their scheduled home games during August.

The LV County Championship Division One game against Yorkshire, organised for August 14 to 17, will be played at Kidderminster Victoria's Chester Road ground.

However, fans face a longer trip to see the televised NatWest Pro40 Division One match against Lancashire Lightning on Saturday, August 25 as it will be played at Taunton.

Newton said: "Kidderminster has hosted many first-class games in the past and they have an excellent wicket at Chester Road.

"We are delighted they have agreed to stage this game at short notice.

"The match against Lancashire is a televised game so it has been necessary to find a ground that is both available and capable of taking the infrastructure required.

"Somerset couldn't have been more helpful in agreeing to stage this game.

"We are aware that this will involve some travel for our members and supporters but we hope they will support us in large numbers during these unusual circumstances."

Worcestershire still harbour hopes of playing the last two home games in September against Hampshire and Northamptonshire at New Road, but this will be further considered when the flood waters have gone.

Meanwhile, overseas duo Doug Bollinger and Phil Jaques will return to Australia on Saturday, August 18 to join up with their country's A' squad.

Both have been selected to tour Pakistan in September and are required to report back for a squad training session.

Therefore, neither player will be available for the remainder of Worcestershire's season.

Elsewhere, the ECB has announced the first England Under 19 Test match against Pakistan will now take place at Scarborough following flooding at New Road. The four-day match will start on Saturday, August 4.
