JOSH Sarmento’s on-off departure from Worcester City seems back on amid fresh interest from Rushall Olympic.

Joint-boss John Snape confirmed the Pics had become the third Northern Premier League team to approach City over the Portuguese winger’s availability in the past three weeks.

Barwell had been favourites to land the 21-year-old with Halesowen Town also entering the race before Sarmento committed to Worcester in spite of contrary indications from his agent.

However, the representative has been back in touch over a move to Dales Lane with Snape admitting the move is likely to go through following a chance meeting with Rushall counterpart Liam McDonald.

“I haven’t had it from Josh yet but it seems he will go to Rushall,” said Snape.

“His agent contacted me to say he would like to take the opportunity while staying dual registered with us.

“I spoke to Liam last week and will again. It is a shame because Josh formed part of our plans for this season and next but when the chance comes to play two steps higher you have to understand it.”

Sarmento has scored five goals in 16 appearances, five of which have been from the bench, since joining City in September.

He made his debut as a late substitute at Lye Town, the team that visits the Victoria Ground on Saturday (3pm).
