HARRI Harrison proved a popular winner when he came out on top in the second round of the Droitwich Winter League.

Held on the canal near the sports centre, it was heavily coloured from the River Salwarpe. But the Spa AC man made no mistakes after finding himself drawn at the end of his section on peg 21.

He went tight across the far bank reeds to take around 20 good perch on pinkie bait and despite having a quiet last hour he put a winning 5-11-5 onto the scales.

In-form Worcester star Tim Biddle (Sensas DAC) netted a few roach along with perch, mainly caught on chopped worm for 3-12-9. He beat Anthony Lliff (Sensas DAC) who claimed third prize with a 3-3-4 mainly perch total.

Section prizes went to Matt Hodgetts and Lee Davey.

Geoff Hodge (DHA) won the New Year’s Day Hangover Open at Moorlands Farm when he beat 18 other hopefuls on the Meadow Pool with an all carp net, taken on ledgered bread from peg 56 going 99-10-0. Venue ace Chris Hill (Mossella) came second weighing 68-12-0 with Warren Jennings (Moorlands) third with 43-10-0.

At Woodland View, Birmingham’s Derek Silk fished straight lead tactics across to the aerator on peg 4 on Ghost Pool to win the Tuesday Open with carp to double figures to 78-3-0.
