THE winter league involving Bransford looks to be bubbling up for a dramatic final day next month.

With three rounds completed, the latest at The Staffordshire, near Swindon, Little Lakes head the list by two points from Bransford 22-20 with The Staffs on 16 and Wharton Park 14.

The final round, which involves 48 players in a match-play format, is scheduled for Wharton Park, Bewdley, on February 15.

The competition at the Staffs was close with Little Lakes finishing on seven points, the host club and Wharton Park on six and Bransford on five.

Bransford captain Dave Miller and Mike Weaver won against Little Lakes two-up and Graham Wilks and Roger Clark one-up against Wharton Park.

Trevor Atkinson and Alan Wallcroft halved with the hosts.

But Ferey Ghani and Adrian Wood went down 6&4 against Little Lakes, Paul Cooke and Lee Dyment 5&4 to The Staffs and Mike Davidge and John Phillips one-down to Wharton Park.

Heavy conditions resulted in Bransford seniors playing their January stableford to a placing all over format.  Division One was won by Alan Cockill on 33 points with Mark Heason second on 32 and Gerry Rebbeck third on 31.

Lee Dyment scored 30 and Chris Cale 29.

Andy Lamb took Division Two with 37 to ease out Peter Harrison while Mike Weaver came in on 32 followed by Alan Wallcroft and Harry Godwin on 31.

The winning score in Division Three was 31 where Roy Mayo pipped Pauline Wetton by one with Gerry McCurry third on 29.

Brian Corfield managed 28 and Allen Rowberry and Chas Griffin 26.

The men’s monthly stableford was tight with Mark Wright (19) edging out Gordon Jack (9) after both got 41 while Ollie Walker (2) scored 40.

Chris Eyers (6), Mark Tipton (7) and Graeme Fowler (20) managed 37 and David Lamb (8) 36.
