WORCESTER Triathlon Club have finalised their 2018 race schedule, starting with Peopleton Duathlon on February 25.

The popular event, which has been Worcester's season-opener for the past 12 years, consists of four and two-mile runs sandwiching a 18-mile bike section.

There is a shorter option of two two-mile runs and a nine-mile bike section.

It is suitable for all abilities with more than 100 racers taking part each year and can give some focus to training during the winter months.

Worcester Triathlon will be on May 13 at the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus in Holt Heath.

Again, there will be two distance options of a 750-metre open-water swim, 30-kilometre bike section and 5km run or 1,500m swim, 60km bike and 10km run.

Droitwich Triathlon will be on July 22 at Droitwich Leisure Centre consisting of a 400m swim, 20km bike section and 5km run.

The shortest event is ideal for beginners over sprint distance and the swim is pool-based over 16 lengths with a staggered start.

Event entries are now open at entrycentral.com and as in previous years 10 per cent of all registration fees will go to St Richard’s Hospice.

Entries for Peopleton Duathlon can also be made on the day of the race at Peopleton Village Hall before 8am.

To get involved in triathlon or multi-sport, people can get in touch with the club at worcestertriclub.co.uk or their Facebook Group or come along to a training session.

They have pool swimming on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays all year round plus open-water swimming on Wednesdays and Saturdays from May until September.

Other training includes track sessions at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex, strength and conditioning at the University of Worcester and cycling and running arranged via the Facebook group.

All abilities from beginners to seasoned athletes are welcome.

Worcester have members who represented Great Britain at all distances from sprint to ironman.
