WORCESTER Wolves women will be aiming to continue their rich vein of form when they visit bottom club Nottingham Trent Wildcats in the National League Division Two North on Saturday (3pm).

Ryan Emery’s side are in buoyant mood after beating promotion rivals Derbyshire Gems 55-48 last weekend.

Shanice Turner netted Wolves’ first points as they went on to open up a 22-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Grace Brownell and Katerina Gregarova capitalised on loose passes from a tiring Derby team to extend their advantage to 34-23.

The visitors cut back the deficit in the second half but Wolves’ defence came to the fore, forcing 12 turnovers while Turner and Estella Maloney landed important shots to secure victory.

Head coach Emery said: “I thought our defence was exceptional.

“To force a good team into 27 turnovers is the reason why we won.

“We did a great job at disrupting their offense and keeping the ball out of some of their key players hands especially late in the game where we knew that getting stops would get us across the line.”

“This was a real team effort and all the credit goes to the players.”
