MIDLAND League Premier Division leaders Bromsgrove Sporting beat Coventry United 3-2 at the Victoria Ground despite going down to 10 men.

Sporting were cruising to victory at the break through Drew Canavan’s cool finish and Max Loveridge lashing inside the near post from a free-kick.

Craig Jones capped his 200th Bromsgrove appearance with an overhead kick from close range but the second period became a battle.

Shaquille McDonald went close before pulling a goal back for United with 14 minutes left.

Sporting striker Richard Gregory was then sent off for an elbow on Jamal Clarke.

Substitute Aaron Opoku got denied by keeper Reece Francis but Clarke tucked in the rebound from a saved shot in injury-time only for Sporting to hold on to the three points watched by 691 fans.

Coleshill Town beat 10-man Haughmond 2-1 and have a seven-point cushion in the second promotion place over Sporting Khalsa who did not play.

Highgate United moved up to fourth with a 2-0 win against Heanor Town.
