WORCESTER City have received a double boost ahead of Saturday’s trip to Loughborough University in Midland League Premier Division (3pm).

Manager John Snape has bolstered his squad with the signings of forwards Joel Ambalu and Nick Turton who are set to make their debuts tomorrow afternoon.

Ambalu is a former West Bromwich Albion trainee and has been on the books of North Ferriby United, Aylesbury, Tividale, Alvechurch and Dudley Town.

The front man joins from Southern League Premier Division outfit Redditch United on a dual registration.

City have also snapped up Turton who will make the move from AFC Wulfrunians after previous spells with Sporting Khalsa and Chasetown.

Snape said: “We had them down to train with us on Thursday. They are more offensive players and will spice things up a little bit.

“We are keeping clean sheets at the moment but we want to give some support to Reyno (Dave Reynolds), (James) Baldwin and Mark Danks.”

Winger Josh Sarmento who featured in City’s 2-0 midweek win over Shawbury United has returned to Rushall Olympic on a dual registration.

Flexible right-sided player Bekir Halil and in-demand full-back Tyler Weir are suspended while midfielder Nathan Hayward (knee) is expected to have a late fitness test.

But defender Mark Smith is back in contention after serving his ban as third-placed City look to record a third straight victory.

Loughborough are in 18th position and have won just one of their past 11 games in all competitions.

“We were a bit rusty against Shawbury having not played for a while,” Snape added.

“But hopefully with a game under our belts we will have more confidence and enthusiasm about us to go and get a much-needed three points.

“Loughborough will bring energy. If the pitch is playable I expect it to be an entertaining game of football.”

CITY RELEASE STATEMENT

The club’s board have agreed to “provide all information” to Worcester City Supporters’ Trust’s financial advisor.

This comes after the trust submitted an open letter declaring the figures would need to be examined in order to “make any decision on the viability of the football club”.

The club’s statement read: “The club has received a request from the Worcester City FC Supporters’ Trust for financial information in order for both sides to move forward and secure the future of the club as it seeks to find a new home back in Worcester.

"The board has considered this request and will, over the next few days, provide all information to the trust’s financial advisor that will allow him to ascertain the most robust model the club can adopt to attract grants and further finances to bring city home and help guarantee its future viability.

"The board will be happy to work with the trust’s nominated advisor to enable this to happen.”
