PITMASTON Primary's year six netballers won the Royal Grammar School Worcester primary schools netball tournament for the first time.

The St John's school fielded two teams in the tournament — Comets and Thunderbolts.

Thunderbolts dominated all their matches leading up to the semi-final with only Oasis Academy giving them a run for their money.

The girls were showing signs of tiredness but clawed back the game against St George’s Catholic Primary to gain a place in the final.

Broadheath, a tall and powerful team, scored the first goal as Pitmaston goal defence Kiera Shipley was pushed to her limit physically for the first time.

Speedy Pitmaston centre Jessica Bettles improved yet further and the determined side supplied goal attack Imogen Kenny for an equaliser.

In extra-time, Kenny scored the winning goal to reward a resilient and skilful team performance with the shield.

Alice Adcook, Isabelle Kelly, Bianca Alexe and Lauren Maisey also made up the winning side.
