A NEW girls’ All Stars programme at Kidderminster Cricket Club aims to attract youngsters from a wide area.
The eight-week ECB programme for five to eight-year-olds will launch the club’s women’s and girls' hub aimed at developing a thriving female section to run alongside their established junior and senior sections.
Junior section chairman Sarah Beadsworth said: “Girls have always been welcome but numbers have been such that we have run mixed teams only.
"Now that we can draw from a much bigger area we hope these girls will create the first cohort of our new hub.
“This is a very exciting development, boosting opportunities for girls and women to become a major force in cricket in Worcestershire, and we are delighted to have been selected to develop a hub by the county cricket board.”
The programme will run from Friday, May 11, at Kidderminster’s Chester Road ground between 6pm and 6.45pm.
