NEIL Slade and Gareth Andrew laid the foundations for Ombersley’s first win of the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League season.

Slade (4-28) and Andrew (3-41) were deadly with the ball as Wolverhampton lurched to 161 for nine at Old Main Road, their only significant contributor being Zen Malik (70).

Australian international Callum Ferguson stroked no fewer than 13 boundaries in his innings of 76 and alongside Liam Gwynne (39), put together an opening partnership of 115.

Nick Hammond remained unbeaten on 25 as Ombersley cruised to the Premier Division victory with more than 17 overs in hand.

Barnards Green got subjected to a sizeable nine-wicket stuffing at Division One pacesetters Himley.

England under-19 seamer Adam Finch (4-28) and the ageless Chris Boroughs (3-21) reduced the visitors to 16 for five with Oli Swift (26), the only batsman to reach double figures, providing a much-needed lift.

The joy was short lived, though, with a total of 85 all out never looking likely to trouble Himley and so it proved.

Phil Harris got off the mark with the ball but the hosts surpassed their target inside 17 overs with nine wickets to spare.

Pershore remain in a pack of five teams on 45 points at the Division Two summit having battled to a closely-contested win over Attock.

Arsalaan Mahmood hit 78 of Attock’s all-out total of 210 as the hosts shared around the wickets, two apiece for Luke Dalley, George Kirby, Matthew Brace and Stephen Miles.

Zayn Hussain (3-36) looked likely to influence Pershore’s response, claiming the wickets that saw them stumble at 50 for two but a 102-run third-wicket stand between Chris Ridings (72) and Chris Miles (44) turned the tide.

Charlie Norton (16) then plundered a trio of fours to help the hosts over the line with 212 for six in 48.5 overs.

Top dogs Old Elizabethans also got ran close in Division Three, winning with one wicket and 10 balls to spare.

Milford’s Chris Becker hit 55 in his side’s total of 204 and it needed a stellar 52 from Tom Goodwin to put things right for OEs after they slipped to 112 for six.

Daniel Colburn (44*) then took over to see through the Worcester-based side’s victory by the narrowest of margins.
