WORCESTER Golf and Country Club welcomed new captain John Hill in traditional style with over 200 players competing in alliance teams of four.

Played under stableford rules with two scores to count on each hole, four juniors won with 90 points.

Alex Band, James Lloyd, Arnold Edmonds, and James Bishop finished five ahead of Tony English, Ian Jakeman, Don Hooper and Lee Richardson.

Third with 82 on countback were Trevor Woodward, Ben Woodward, Gordon Podmore and Phil Green from Adam Groves, Harry Hunt, Andy Cale and Trevor Portmand.

Rich White, John Hatt and James Lloyd picked up nearest-the-pin prizes.

Sammy Woodward won the bottle of whisky for retrieving the captain’s drive-in ball.

After a season of stiff competition, the winter league was won for the second year by Duncan Macpherson and Sean Lloyd who defeated Phil Campbell and Sammy Woodward 3&2.

The Hogg Bowl, a winter foursome competition, was lifted by Andy Baker and Brian Webb who beat Steve Hollinshead and Dave Blakeman on the 19th hole.
