NORTH Midlands ended their Bill Beaumont County Championship Division Two campaign with a 46-24 defeat against Somerset at Taunton.
It ended a disappointing campaign for North Midlands who suffered three defeats and finished bottom the group.
Head coach Steve Joslin also faced selection headaches and it was not until the morning of the match that he was able to finalise his squad.
Somerset eased into a 34-3 half-time lead with Bournville fly-half Mitch McGahan landing a penalty.
North Midlands came back fighting in the second half with replacement Harry Hudson (Edwardians), wing Ethan Walker (Old Halesonians) and Wilf Watson (Evesham) scoring tries, two converted by McGahan and one by Watson.
But it was not enough to overturn the deficit.
