MORE than 50 members of Bransford’s seniors section supported the first Captain’s Away Day of the year at Broadway.

As well as a three-ball team event in a stableford format there was an individual competition and several nearest the pin prizes on offer.

Best score of the day went to Dave Lindsay with 42 points, just ahead of June Atkinson who took second spot on countback after she and Alan Ford had both recorded 41 points.

Other leading scores were Dianne Leadbetter 40, and Keith Edgell and Andrew Jarvis both 38.

Nearest pin on the eighth - Trevor Atkinson, in two on 11th - Edgell, and in two on 15th - Geoff Aston.

A total of £40 was raised for the Acorns Children’s Hospice. Neil Holbrow (12) won the first medal event of the summer season after carding the day’s lowest gross score of 84 to finish with a nett 72 , edging out Richard Steele 89-15=74 and Lee Dyment was third 95-19=76.

Top scores, Division Two: 1 J Phillips 99-20=79, 2 N Sheldon 101-21=80, 3 B Bowen 100-20=100; Division Three: 1 B Corfield 103-26=77, 2 J Knowles 103-27=77, 3 C Hayes 110-30=80.

John Phillips partnered Mike Davidge to victory in the B0-AT Trophy after a three-way tie while in the latest club match the seniors lost 6-2 at Upton Bishop.
