MARTLEY'S Worcestershire League Division Three winning run ended as they were well beaten at Jewry Field by Netherton by six wickets.

Batting first, they lost skipper Dom Jones early but James Ganderton and Richard Birchley (36) took them to 61-1 off 16 overs.

Ganderton (31) mistimed to cover but Alex Basford kept up his form with 51 before being stumped as Martley slumped to 153-7.

Netherton spinner Matt Lowe took 5-51 to rip through the middle order.

Jamie Howes (16) and Si Van Tongeren (20) helped steer Martley to 210 all out from 47.1 overs with Danny Lowe taking 3-33.

Netherton made a steady start aided by poor fielding with several catches going down.

Alec Francis (3-32) and James Francis (1-15) picked up wickets while Ganderton bowled a frugal 10 overs for 16 runs.

But 109 not out from Russell Oseland saw Netherton romp home.

Martley seconds kept up their Division Four form with a five-wicket win at Romsley and Hunnington.

Batting first, the hosts were indebted to Matt Peverill (58) with no other batsmen topping 20.

Martley used seven bowlers and Tom Butler (3-19) returned the best figures as Romsley and Hunnington were all out for 180.

Pat Bibby, in his first game of the summer for Martley, hammered 97 with the side on 130-1 when he was out.

A minor collapse saw several batsmen fall but Jamie King (29no) saw them home by five wickets.
