TWO hundred Worcester Swimming Club members tackled a nationwide 100x100-metre relay challenge for the Royal British Legion.

The swimmers ranged from seven year olds to all 11 national qualifiers along with several parents.

Team one finished in two hours 53 minutes 18.76 seconds and the second group in 1.56.42.21.

Team two were second in the national leaderboard just behind Loughborough and the fastest teams will be invited to a national event in Sheffield.

The challenge was part of the We Remember Them campaign to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War later this year.

Club head coach Mark Stowe said: "I'm immensely proud that the club managed to put out two teams of 100 swimmers. It was truly wonderful to see so much support."

Each swimmer paid £5 to enter so Worcester will have raised £1,000 from entry fees and a cake sale organised by Emma Armstrong raised a further £268.
