GOALLESS striker Kyonn Evans was singled out for praise by assistant boss Ashley Vincent for his part in Worcester City’s 5-1 thrashing of Dudley Town.

Evans has yet to score since making the move from Malvern Town this summer and his pre-season drought continued at York Road on Wednesday night.

But Vincent hailed the frontman’s work ethic and reckoned he was only a goal away from producing a “total performance”.

“I don’t like to pick out individuals as we are a team but for me Kyonn was different class,” Vincent said.

“He is someone who is very honest in the way he goes about his business.

“He worked really hard and the only thing he missed out on was a goal. If he had got that it would have been a total performance.

“You really do want someone like him to get goals and that’s the same for Renno (Dave Reynolds) but I am sure they will come for them.”

After falling behind on 15 minutes, forward Nick Turton grabbed the equaliser moments later before City scored twice in quick succession.

Turton got the first of those on the half-hour mark before midfielder Liam Lockett hit the back of the net.

Striker Jordan Harrison was then on the scoresheet for the third successive warm-up match as he notched a late brace.

The bumper away victory followed their 8-1 drubbing of Worcester Raiders and 2-0 win at Malvern Town.

“The boys have been fantastic so far,” Vincent said.

“We are obviously really happy with the way we are performing.

“We are getting in the right areas and putting our chances away.

“The most disappointing thing about Wednesday night was conceding a goal as we were a bit sloppy at the start.

“I also thought we were a bit slow in those first 15 to 20 minutes after half-time as we had been working hard.

“But once we made the changes and freshened things up the replacements brought a new impetus and we got a couple more goals.”

Worcester are now gearing up for tomorrow’s battle with county rivals Redditch United at the TRICO Stadium (3pm).

The Reds play two levels higher than City in Evo-Stik League South Premier Central.

“We want to play attacking football,” Vincent added.

“That’s something that the manager (John Snape) has set out to do and we are going into games confident knowing we are going to create chances.

“We scored five at Dudley, eight at Raiders at the weekend and two at Malvern the week before and given the chances we have had we probably could have scored 50 per cent more.

“The boys are doing everything we can ask of them.

“But we have still got things to improve on.”
