KEVIN Hill stormed to a three-shot win in the President's Bowl first round of two at Ravenmeadow and Perdiswell Park Golf Club.

Hill (16 handicap) scored 62 nett to finish ahead of Adrian Day (7) who edged out George Postans (22) for second place with both on 65.

Duane Parsons (21) was fourth on 67.

Conditions may have been near perfect but many of the 43-strong field failed to get their ball round.

But Hill, whose handicap was cut to 14, managed a birdie on the fifth to go with seven pars while keeping double bogies or worse off his card.

Day hit the front for the Worcester club's Sunday medal eclectic round four of 11 with 61 nett and earned the handicap cut from eight to seven.

Tim Cawley (23) was second on 64 followed by club captain Stephen Griffiths (16) on 67 in dry, hot conditions.

Simon Lister (19) got fourth from Richard Adcock on countback with both on 71.

Day managed five birdies on two, three, six, 16 and 18 plus eight pars and nothing worse than bogies elsewhere.

A club medal went convincingly to Andy Wood (23) with 60 nett followed by Dave Brace (20) on 66, Bill Kelly (22) on 67 and Clive Brown (21) on 68.

Wood birdied one and 16 alongside just three pars but kept high scores to a minimum with only three double bogies.

A diminished field of 20 contested the medal with just six recording scores of nett par or better for the course.

The club's seniors' salver saw the first round of two go to Barry Sandel (27) with 63 nett.

Tony Cooper (22) was second on 64 with Roger Richardson (29) edging out Ed Nicklin (14) for third position with both on 66 while Jan Schutte was fifth on the same score.

Sandel bagged just five pars and five double bogies alongside a 10 on the 17th hole could still not deny him.

His handicap was cut to 25.

The seniors beat visitors Dudley 4-2 with wins for Mick Huggins and Malcolm Stanley 3&1, Barrie Hope and Phil Rowland 2&1, Mike Williams and Brace 2&1 and Phil Lane and Tom Gregory one-up.

Kelly and John Hine lost 2&1 and Roger Cutler and Nicklin 3&1.
