FORMER Worcestershire player Nathan Round led Coombs Wood to a comfortable victory over Old Vigornians despite another fine show from teenage all-rounder Max Richardson.

The 17-year-old followed up his century against Bromyard a fortnight ago with an undefeated 90 from 95 balls which included nine fours and three sixes.

He led the Worcester side to a respectable 220-9 in 50 overs after they had looked in real trouble at 142-8.

Richardson was supported in a 69-run ninth-wicket partnership by Zain Hussain, 16, who made a measured 17.

OVs were quickly in trouble after skipper Alex Parker bravely chose to bat first against one of the strongest bowling attacks.

Only Dom Lee (32) showed any staying power in the top order. Alex Gregory took three wickets and Round two.

Round won the battle of the all rounders, scoring a match-winning 104 from 147 balls.

Richardson again bowled well but went wicketless while spinners Ed Burgoyne and Parker each took a wicket and conceded just 58 runs from a combined 20 overs.

Dan Jones was on 88 not out as Wood cruised home by five wickets with four overs to spare.

OVs seconds thrashed old rivals Bromsgrove fourths by 158 runs in Division Two on a humid day at New Road.

The powerful top order made a challenging 244-9.

Skipper Aidan Thompson scored 46, Chris Drew 48 and Rob Lanchbury-Thomas 63 which included four sixes and five fours.

The club's leading run scorer this season, Lanchbury-Thomas is in a race with Drew and Thompson to become the first batsman to reach 500 runs.

OVs collapsed from 182-4 to 192-8 but Ivan Campbell-Ferguson made a dashing 28 and veterans Tony Meek (13 not out) and Ian Robinson (9no) saw the innings to a close.

The young OVs attack made the ball swing dangerously in reply and the Bromsgrove batting was blown away.

James Hayward-Meek took 3-9 and there were two wickets apiece for Campbell-Ferguson and Charlie Francis who bowled with pace and hostility.

The Boars were dismissed for just 86.
