SIMON Garrett has smashed the Worcester St John's solo club record over 25 miles.

Previously held by Mark Corbett, Garrett set a time of 50 minutes 44 seconds for 14th overall on the course from Hirwaun to Aberdulais in south Wales.

Club-mate Simon Adcook achieved his second fastest time of 2018 with 52.40 for 38th at the realteam.co.uk event.

Kieron Davies from DRAG2ZERO won in 45.32.

The Worcestershire Midweek TLI Cycling League fifth round was held at Welland with two laps of a 16-mile circuit.

The handicap system worked well with two-and-a-half minutes between each group.

The three all came together with four miles to go.

Worcester St John's Andy Draper jumped clear with a mile left and had plenty of time to celebrate his win.

Carl Dee sprinted to third with Vince Page just behind in fourth.

The overall result will be decided at Pinvin with Dee and Page joint first and Adrian Bird just a couple of points behind.

Honorary St John’s member Marcus Walker won his category at the Newbury Road Race where Page was second in the bunch sprint and Dee 15th.

But with the race splitting towards the end several riders went clear with Simon Brookes from VC St Raphael winning.

Twelve riders from six clubs did the Worcester St John's monthly 10-mile time trial at Severn Stoke.

Andrew Foster from The Cycle Studio won in 22.07 from home rider Nic Bradburn in 23.29 and Mike Murray from Team Echelon in 23.48.

Martin Stanley clocked 24.18, Adrian Murray 24.42, Ian Connolly 24.50, Xavier Disley 25.18, Andrew Milner 25.19, Aimee Lane 25.30, Martin Staines 26.56, Rick Allen 27.38 and Paul Fulbrook 31.27.
