THE financial state of Worcester City could become clear “within the next two months”, according to new chairman Steve Goode.

Calls have long been made by Worcester City Supporters’ Trust for the cash-strapped club to hold an AGM.

Speaking to the Worcester News in March, outgoing chairman Anthony Hampson estimated City would have £150,000 left in the bank by the end of last season.

The trust tried to launch an independent review of the club’s finances only for it to be scuppered after failing to agree on a non-disclosure agreement.

Goode said the club would be transparent over their spending during his tenure and was keen to stage an AGM “sooner rather than later”.

“I would hope that within the next two months we will get something on the table for people to know what is going on,” Goode said.

“As soon as we have had the AGM we will have a meeting with supporters which will mostly likely be the following night.

“People have made comments about what is going on in the club. Once and for all people are going to know the truth.

“I am just hoping that my feelings are right and once we do know where we stand we can then take the club forward.”

Asked whether he and new directors David Wood, Tom Swan and Simon Gregory had done any due diligence before coming onto the board, Goode said: “We actually went in with an idea of what was there but nothing solid.

“We have technically gone in there blind but knowing something will be there.

“Certain directors on the board wouldn’t be there if there was an issue (of survival).

“What they said (how much is left financially) is most probably true but we had no proof of that.”

Goode added: “My initial ambitions are to steady the ship, try to get everybody going one way, sort out the club’s finances and start letting fans know what is actually going on at the football club.

“If people have queries they can come to me or any other board member. I am sure they will get a true reflection of what is going on and a positive response.”
