PHIL Lane won the President's Bowl at Worcester's Ravenmeadow and Perdiswell Park after claiming the second round.

He only took the trophy on countback though after his 129 nett from rounds of 68 and 61 left him level with Ade Day (65+64=129).

Kevin Hill (62+69=131) was third and Collis Fisher (68+68=136) fourth.

Lane (16 handicap) had stormed to victory in the second round with 61 from Day (6) on 64, Mark Purser (8) on 66 and Fisher (28) on 68.

The victor downed 10 pars and had nothing worse than bogies elsewhere.

Holding 33 at the turn, Lane’s back-nine 28 took him way out in front.  Day had birdies on the ninth and 15th plus 13 pars but will rue three bogies.

There was stableford success for Mike Williams and Janet Richardson.

Williams (16) won the men's midweek event with 42 points but only on countback from Richard Adcock (14).

Tom Gregory (21) was third on 41 on countback from Leighton Hine (12) and Peter Brown (15).

Williams' 22 on the back nine compared to Adcock's 21 just got him over the winning line after he amassed 20 on the front.

He carded a birdie on the 15th to enhance his eight-par haul and scored on every hole despite two double bogies. His handicap went down to 15.

Richardson (37) claimed the ladies' event with 42 from Sue Clissett (36) on 41, Val Williams (38) on 39 and Judith Watson (36) on 37.

She had just a single par on her card but kept big numbers off the gross column with points on every single and her handicap shot down to 34.
