PETE Anthony, Neil Sheldon and Harry Godwin were drawn together to win Bransford senior captain's charity day secret stableford.

Anthony (10 handicap) scored 42 points to win the individual contest while Sheldon (20) managed 37 and Godwin (21) 33.

Roy Burston (12) and Mike Weaver (20) finished with 41 and Roy Williams (23) amassed 40.

On 38 were John Phillips, Tony Bowman, Keith Edgell and Gerry Rebbeck.

Nearest-the-pin prizes went to Chris Hall, Mike Murley and Trevor Atkinson on the fifth, 13th and 15th par-three holes respectively.

The day raised around £450 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Bransford seniors lost at Little Lakes 4-3.

There were wins for Godwin (21) and Andy Lamb (23) 6&4, Andy Falconer (24) and Alan Wallcroft (24) one-up and Phillips (21) and Sheldon (20) 3&2.

Defeats were handed to Dave Miller (18) and Phil Spencer (19) 4&3, Ferey Ghani (15) and Weaver (20) 4&3, Rob Blake (15) and Mike Davidge (16) 6&5 and Williams (23) and Roger Clark (24) 5&4.

Club members held a Farewell to Ollie stableford to mark the departure of assistant professional Ollie Walker to take up a golf scholarship in Arizona, USA.

Although he plans to be away for several years the 21-year-old intends to return to Bransford as often as possible.

The competition was won by up-and-coming teenager Harry Chadwick adding to his club championship victory.

His tally in Division One was 42 points with Jack Cullity on 41 and Ian Bowman on 40.

Division Two was claimed by Mike Madden with 44 from Mervyn Miles on 40 and Leon Tomkins on 39.

But the scores were eclipsed in Division Three where youngster Norton Fowles rattled up 46 to finish eight ahead of junior William Ritson and Lyndon Gardner had 25.

The club’s August medal went to Ray Webb by two shots.

He went out in 46 and came back with 45 which included three pars.

Webb scored 91 gross 26 handicap 65 nett, Paul Turner 88-21=67, Pete Sheppard 85-16=69, Jonathan Hunt 82-12=70, Maks Wyard 76-5=71 and David Hunt 82-10=72.

Wyard had the lowest gross.
