BRETT D’Oliveira will have a fitness test on Friday ahead of the vital Vitality Blast encounter with Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston (6.30pm).

The all-rounder suffered a badly bruised finger while fielding on the second day of the seconds encounter with Warwickshire at Barnt Green.

D’Oliveira did not bat and was replaced by Xavier Clarke who was called up from the academy match with Leicestershire at Bromsgrove.

The Worcester-born 26-year-old took no further part in the four-day fixture.

County head coach Kevin Sharp, who was overseeing the third and fourth days of the seconds match, said: “Brett got a knock on his finger and badly bruised it while fielding.

“He will take no further part in the seconds game and will have a fitness test on Friday ahead of the game at Edgbaston.”

D’Oliveira scored 64 and looked back to his best in Sunday’s Blast defeat to Notts Outlaws at Blackfinch New Road.

He has skippered Rapids in the Blast whenever official T20 captain Moeen Ali has been on England duty.

Rapids' North Group fate is now in their own hands as they bid to secure a top-two finish and home quarter-final.

Durham Jets are guaranteed a last-eight clash at the Emirates Riverside after second-placed Lancashire Lightning went down to Birmingham on a spin-friendly pitch at Edgbaston.

Rapids will follow suit if they pick up any points from their final group match at Bears.

A win, a tie or a washout will guarantee Worcestershire overhaul Lightning.

They could top the group if they claim both points and Jets slip up at home to Derbyshire Falcons.

Birmingham are also still in contention to qualify if they come out on top after defeating Lightning although it will depend on other results going in their favour.

It is a re-run of the finale to the Royal London One-Day Cup North Group when Rapids won at Edgbaston to finish top and in the process eliminated Bears.
