IT was a case of delight for the Davids — Miller and Wild — but only just when they narrowly won the Bransford seniors’ Norman Taylor Trophy.

Their winning margin over runners-up Ferey Ghani and Trevor Atkinson was a mere .4 of a shot.

The Texas scramble, using five-16ths of the players’ joint handicaps, attracted 26 pairs and helped raise just over £150 for Acorns Hospice, the chosen charity of seniors' captain Miller.

Miller and Wild finished with gross 71 and nett 65.2 while Ghani and Atkinson, who had the same gross score, finished on 65.6 nett.

Alan Ford and Mike Holmes managed 74 (66.7), Roger Steade and Lee Dyment 77 (68.2) and Roy Williams and Alan Cockill 77 (69.3).

Bransford seniors lost 4½-3½ at Wharton Park.

There were wins for John Phillips (21 handicap) and Harry Godwin (21) 5&4 and Neil Sheldon (20) and Roger Clark (24) 3&2.

Andy Falconer (25) and Lee Dyment (19), Phil Spencer (19) and Gordon White (26) and Ghani (15) and Mike Davidge (16) halved.

Miller (18) and Chris Cale (18) lost 6&5, Rob Blake (16) and Mark Weston (24) 3&2 and Mike Weaver (19) and Alan Wallcroft (24) 4&2.

Bransford's Pro's Chalice went to Stuart Crump when the 11-handicapper achieved 13 pars in 66 nett.

Ian Pritchard (12) was second with 67 after a gross 79 while third went to Maks Wyard (5) on 68.

Wyard had the second best gross of 73 along with Graham Wallace who finished 11th with 72 nett.
