EVESHAM United face a tricky replay on Wednesday night after a dreadful second-half display allowed the Midland Alliance outfit a second bite of the FA Cup cherry.

The Robins had completely dominated the opening 45 minutes but had only Mark Owen's 39th-minute effort to show for their improved efforts.

However, all the hard work was undone six minutes after the restart when an error by Steve Hands was pounced on by Nicky Campbell whose pass was taken on and expertly chipped over keeper Nathan Vaughan by substitute Chris Turner.

The tie could have been settled by half-time but Danny Lennon wasted several early openings, while Mark Hands fired a decent shooting chance wide after good work from Owen.

Steve Lutz saw his 26th-minute strike deflected for a corner with Owen again to the fore in the build-up.

The striker saw his volley held by Danny Watson who then kept out another Owen drive with an outstretched hand. The goalkeeper was finally beaten when a miscued clearance after a corner fell kindly for Owen at the back post and Evesham's top scorer nodded in from close range.

United reverted back to their bad old ways after the interval when their passing game totally disintegrated.

Vaughan shovelled Ashley Langford's 49th-minute shot out for a corner but could only get his fingertips to Turner's astute chip two minutes later.

It was all Tipton as an attacking force after that with a couple of free-kicks narrowly off target.

United substitute Joe Clarke had Evesham's solitary shot of the second period - a 30-yard volley after 78 minutes that bounced a couple of yards wide.

Town could have clinched victory in the closing stages as Langford and former Worcester City man Tom Warmer both had clear shots at goal.

The latter was allowed to wriggle down the byline in stoppage-time but Vaughan smothered his cross.

n Westfields were held 1-1 at home by Friar Lane in the battle of the early Midland Alliance high-fliers.

John Chapman salvaged a point for the visitors after Mark Davis handed the Hereford hosts a 46th-minute lead.
