ANDY Preece says Worcester City will need to raise their game when Solihull Moors visit St George's Lane tomorrow night (7.45).

Goals from Adam Webster, Chris Smith and George Clegg saw City defeat Leigh RMI 3-1 on Saturday to record their first home win of the season.

But although manager Preece was pleased with the points, he believes his side can play better and will need to against the Moors.

Bob Faulkner's side lost 3-2 at Southport at the weekend but Preece thinks they relish taking on Worcester.

He said: "It will be a tough game because they always raise their game against us. I always see a lot more in their players when they play against us.

"There's no doubt about it, they seem to enjoy playing against Worcester City. Whatever Bob Faulkner says to them seems to get them going. It seems like they are trying to prove a point but I know they're good players and they have got nothing to prove to me.

"They seem to get a little bit extra out of each other when they play us.

"Hopefully we can raise our game, because we'll have to, and get the points.

"We can play a lot better. I don't think it was a great performance against Leigh but it was effective and as long as we get three points I'm happy."

Victory against Leigh lifted City up to 10th in Blue Square North and leaves them unbeaten in four games.

Preece said: "The pleasing thing is that we haven't played as well as we can but we got three points and dug in.

"Sometimes last year when we played poorly we ended up getting done in the last minute and ended up with no points.

"We are not getting carried away because a couple of bad results can push us back in the bottom half and a couple of good results will push us very close to the play-offs."

Preece added: "I think the first-half was very close. We probably still had the better chances but I thought they had a lot better possession than we did so I wasn't overly happy at half-time.

"It was a Chelsea-like performance. We dug in, kept our shape, kept them away from the goal and created one or two chances on the break. It's nice for us to do that sometimes when we're not playing great. We seemed to respond in the second-half, got two goals, could have had a few more and then we took our foot off the pedal. That's why I was getting so animated because I just could smell they were going to score."
