OMBERSLEY rounded off their promotion-winning Birmingham League Division Three season with another victory.

The village side were indebted to Matt Rawnsley (52), Nick Dale-Lace (45) and Marcus D'Oliveira (43) for taking them to 200-7 to overhaul Wem's total of 195 all out.

Leg-spinner Dale-Lace also picked up 5-88 in the five-run victory.

n The seconds also clinched promotion to Birmingham League Division Two with a comprehensive eight-wicket triumph over Wem.

The victory was the team's seventh straight win which saw them move from third from bottom in July to within one point of the championship.

Wem batted first and never recovered from losing two wickets in the first three overs to veteran Danny Collins and 15-year-old Sam O'Neill.

Collins went on to finish with 3-20 and he was supported by David Bant (3-12) as Wem stumbled to 74 all out.

Ombersley soon showed the visitors how to bat as Dan Hagger and Tom Oakley set off in search of the 75 needed to guarantee promotion.

They both fell to regulation catches, but Brett D'Oliveira stroked six fours in his 38 not out to see Ombersley home in 17 overs.
