WORCESTER City failed to build on their victory over Leigh RMI as they were held to a frustrating draw by Solihull Moors at St George's Lane.

Andy Preece's side were the dominant side for the majority of a contest low on entertainment but were unable to find a way through their stubborn visitors.

However, the result does extend City's unbeaten run to five games as they prepare to travel to Alfreton Town at the weekend.

For all their possession and extertion, the hosts rarely troubled Moors' goalkeeper Matt Ghent and it was his opposite number Danny McDonnell who was forced to make the only meaningful save of the night.

The City player was called into action on 22 minutes to deny Carl Motteram, going down low to smother the winger's shot with his legs.

Motteram also squandered a good chance on the hour when he blasted over from close range after the visitors had caught City off guard with a quick free-kick.

Preece made one switch from the team that saw off Leigh on Saturday, resting striker Craig Wilding for Mark Danks, while Rapinder Gill had recovered sufficiently from an ankle injury to figure on the bench.

Worcester took a while to get going, Solihull enjoying the better of the early exchanges, but were much the stronger side for the rest of the match.

They forced 10 corners, including four in quick succession mid-way through the second-half, but were constantly thwarted by their opponents.

Patrece Liburd showed what an assest he is to the Worcester defence with some towering headers and timely interceptions, once to deny Daniel Davidson in the penalty area in the first-half, while Danks, Peter Doran, Paul Barratt and Adam Webster all threatened without providing an end product.

Danks was allowed to cut in from the right and fire a shot over the top of Ghent's goal on 27 minutes, while captain Chris Smith rose unchallenged to head George Clegg's corner into the hands of the keeper. Graham Ward also curled a free-kick over the angle of post and bar seconds before the half-time whistle.

Chris Duggan collected the first booking of the game but left the field on a stretcher after falling awkwardly under pressure from Paul Barratt with 10 minutes left.

Danks followed him into the book for a late challenge.
