ANDY Preece admitted Worcester City struggled to get to grips with Solihull Moors' game plan in last night's 0-0 draw.

City dominated for long periods at St George's Lane but were unable to break their visitors' stubborn resistance.

Danny McDonnell was the more worked of the two goalkeepers, saving from Carl Motteram, even though City won 10 corners.

Preece said: "It was frustrating. They came with a game plan to flood the midfield, make it difficult for us and hit us on the break, which they did pretty effectively.

"Our performance was a bit lack-lustre, I thought we looked a bit tired and lacked a few ideas and apart from a 15-minute spell just after half-time, when we looked lively and sharp, we just didn't get enough pressure on them.

"Although our set pieces weren't bad, we just weren't clinical enough in front of goal."

He added: "It's difficult when teams flood the midfield, there's nowhere to pass the ball and you tend to have to go direct and hit diagonal balls and try and cause them problems that way.

"It's between the devil and the deep blue sea sometimes - do you pass the ball and have a slow patient build up and let them get men behind the ball or do you go quicker so they can't get organised.

"They came for a point and that doesn't make it a great spectacle.

"It wasn't a great performance but it wasn't really bad. We are five unbeaten and we have just got to keep that run going."
