A FANTASTIC display from Sarah Biles saw her take the gold medal at the Heart Of England Championships at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.

Five more players from Kidderminster's Samurai Judo Club took medals, including double gold for Kelly Edwards.

Biles not only took the gold but she won all of her contests by maximum points and in each case clocked up plenty of other scores as well.

In the final, the Welsh champion was so overwhelmed that the final maximum point score was little more than a coup de grace.

This puts the ambitious 14-year-old top of the current British rankings and will certainly earn her a place in next year's national squad.

Edwards competed in both the juniors and the seniors, winning both categories to take her tally to six consecutive golds in four years at this competition.

In the younger juniors, Clare Hatherill was fifth and her brother James managed seventh which included a win over a British squad player.

Charis Hancocks finished fifth, while Rachel and Sally Moon and Jack Harris all won contests.

But Sam Woodward provided the younger players with a bronze after probably the best performance of his career to date.

Emily Watson comfortably took a bronze, while Millie Hancocks was unlucky after suffering a back injury.

In the young seniors, there were excellent performances from Ryan Pitcock and Grant Jones, who both went close to bronze. Tom Walker was third.

In the seniors, Annabel Webb and Nicky Haywood both finished fifth with Andy Marston seventh.

Dan Watson, Jack Nelson, Frankie Marston, Craig Seldon and Rob Alloway also performed well.
