Drahm’s regret at his exit from Worcester

SHANE Drahm has admitted it would be tough to get out of his contract with Kubota Spears in Japan and stay with the Warriors.

After his final Worcester game at Sixways saw a 51-10 thrashing of Newcastle Falcons, the Aussie stand-off insisted leaving the Warriors will be difficult.

The 31-year-old former Northampton Saints number 10 said: "Did I decide to leave too soon? Yes and no. There are reasons why I would want to stay and reasons for going.

"It's a tough one. I have to be in Japan in a couple of weeks. It would be a tough situation to get out of.

"It's a difficult decision either way. I have loved my time here, it's very hard to leave. When I made the decision, I thought it was time to move closer to home for the family."

Drahm feels there will still be plenty of quality at Sixways in his position in the shape of Joey Carlisle and Loki Crichton after his departure.

He added: "Joey will be fantastic. People say he is probably not ready for Premiership rugby, he has only played a couple of games and is still very young but he has got all the skills.

"That only comes from experience. The more games he plays, the better he will get.

"Loki is a fantastic player but got pushed out because of his goal kicking. If he can work on that he will be one of the best players in the Premiership attacking-wise.

"Apart from his goal-kicking, he is a superb player. He is a great defensive and attacking player.

"Loki has been unfairly written off. You just have to look at the World Cup and see what he did there. A couple of missed kicks don't make you a bad player.

"People don't realise how hard it is."
