GRAHAM Turner says his manager-of-the-year award is testament to the efforts of everyone at Hereford United.

The Bulls boss was presented with the League Two award by the League Managers' Association at a ceremony in Nottingham.

Hereford's second promotion in three years, following on from their Conference play-off success in 2006, saw them finish third in the table to secure a League One place for next season.

Their success has been particularly remarkable given it has come on a far smaller budget than that of League Two champions Milton Keynes Dons and runners-up Peterborough United.

Turner admitted MK Dons manager Paul Ince, who also led his side to a Johnstone's Paint Trophy triumph, might have expected to win but believes Hereford's limited resources tipped the balance.

He said: "It's a reflection on the whole club and how hard everybody's worked to conclude a successful season. I think that's reflected in the award that we received.

"I have got to have some sympathy with Paul, who did the double, but, in the end, I think resources have been taken into consideration and that's held sway. But I was absolutely delighted, among some distinguished guests, to receive the award."

Turner, who missed out on the monthly award four times during the campaign, was also the only victorious manager not to have led his team to top spot in their division.

Sir Alex Ferguson scooped the accolade in the Premiership after leading Manchester United to their 10th league crown, while West Brom boss Tony Mowbray won the Championship award.
